Liz first ride

We had a baby sitter this weekend and went on a ride together. I think it had been something like five months since she'd been on a bike. It didn't seem to matter much; I am sure she'll be out next weekend dropping guys on the descents after they'd dare passing her at the top of a climb. I think our days of riding together regularly are pretty much over. Today reminded me of just how much I miss that. Being able to ride with your partner is a rare gift. Most couples can't enjoy it because one person is always suffering to hold a wheel and the other has to ride so slowly that it is miserable. I hope we can manage to figure out how to keep doing this together once in a while.

rocko bukowski

rocko has been reminding me of a drunken old man lately...
Male pattern baldness, that constantly dazed look; and who would dress like that if they didn't have issues....

well, kids- you are really on your own now. best of luck with that

Mary and Sackett have left us. I knew it was happening, but I just sort of pretended it wasn't. Things have really changed around here. Here is a list of those things:

Before: come home from a hard day at work-

  1. the kitchen is full of wonderful aromas
  2. Sackett is making cocktails
  3. Liz is happy to see me
  4. Babies are happy to see me
  5. Babies go to sleep
  6. Dinner is served
  7. Civilized conversation
  8. Dessert
  9. Mary and Sackett clean up
  10. Mary and Sackett leave
  11. Liz and Adam quiet time
Now: come home from a hard day at work-
  1. the kitchen is full of dirty dishes
  2. no cocktails
  3. Liz is not happy about how late it is
  4. Babies are crying
  5. Babies don't want to sleep
  6. I start making dinner
  7. ?????
  8. ?????
  9. nobody cleans up
  10. gone
  11. ?????
This doesn't really do justice to the difference they have made in our lives over the last two months- thank you so much for everything. Can you come back next week?
